Summary : A programme of field walking in the Avebury area in 1983, undertaken by Julian Thomas and Robin Holgate, included an area to the north west of Silbury Hill, bounded roughly by the river Kennet, the A4 and the Beckhampton Road. The densest concentration of finds occurred in the north west of the area walked, in the vicinity of the barrow cemetery. Finds included flints of Mesolithic, Neolithic and Bronze Age date, and are now in the Alexander Keiller Museum, Avebury.
