Summary : The Royal Greenwich Observatory moved to Herstmonceux after the war as pollution and street lighting were impinging its work at Greenwich. It has now moved to the Canaries on the top of a volcano where the earths magnetic field is very low, providing minimal disturbance for hypersensitive modern equipment. The buildings consist of six domes with green copper roofs and other building.
