Summary : Medieval chapel near New Gate on the London Road. The chapel was a possession of the Whitefriars of Coventry and had its own bridge across the town ditch, the revenue from which was a major source of the Friar's income. In the C14th the chapel was incorporated in th town walls.

The friars of the Whitefriars had a chapel on the London Road near
to New Gate. It became known as the Lady Tower, and was
reconstructed as part of the city wall in the mid C14th. It had its
own bridge across the ditch. The revenues raised by the chapel were
a major source of the friary's income.(1)
