More information : Cropmarks and earthwork remains of a predominantly late nineteenth century formal garden are visible on 1990 oblique air photos to the east, west and south of the site of Studley Royal Hall UID 52142, around SE278 705. Features identified include, garden terraces, walls and other features as well as trackways. Most of these features appear to have been depicted on the Ordnance Survey map of 1891-92, only a few are on the 1856 edition, hence only these are considered to be of possible pre-late nineteenth century date. The earthwork features appear to survive on more recent 2002 Google Earth air photos and 2006 lidar-derived images. (1-6) |
