Summary : Strips of medieval ridge and furrow, some post medieval narrow ridge and furrow and a broad ditch are visible as earthworks and cropmarks on air photos. Some of these features appear to have survived as earthworks on more recent air photos and lidar-derived images.
More information : Strips of medieval ridge and furrow, some post medieval narrow ridge and furrow and a broad ditch are visible as earthworks and cropmarks on air photos. These features are centred at NY1457 3502. The strips runs north-west to south-west between A595 road (also the course of the Egremont to Carlisle Roman road UID1325580) and the village of Blindcrake. Some of these features appear to have survived as earthworks on more recent air photos and lidar-derived images. (1-4)
