Summary : Walled garden set within a landscape park at Penshurst Place. The walled garden was constructed during the early 16th century- 17th century and restored in the 1850s. It is planted with later designs including schemes by John Codrington dating to the 1960s-1970s and Lanning Roper in 1968. The park had been landscaped by the early 18th century and was originally a deer park documented in 1290. Some of the tree planting took place during the 1990s.

The park at Penshurst lies mostly northwards from Penshurst Place, which stands on the centre western side of the park.The formal gardens lie within a walled enclosure built between 1570 and 1666.
