Summary : A field system, possibly of Iron Age or Roman date, is visible as cropmarks on air photographs. It is quite extensive extending N-S for 650 metres and W-E for 1150 metres. Some of the ditches are slightly sinuous, whilst others are straighter. The field system appears to pre-date Roman road RR280 (LIN 247) and is probably part of the same field system which lies to the west (see SE 44 SE 25) and south (see SE 44 SE 51).
More information : A field system, possibly of Iron Age or Roman date, is visible as cropmarks on air photographs, centred at SE 4612 4188. It is quite extensive extending N-S for 650 metres and W-E for 1150 metres. Some of the ditches are slightly sinuous, whilst others are straighter. The field system appears to pre-date Roman road RR280 (LIN 247). It is probably part of the same field system which lies to the west (see SE 44 SE 25) and south (see SE 44 SE 51).
