New Gate. Work is said to have been started on the gate in 1355, and certainly at the latest by 1367. It lay on the main road to London at the bottom of Much Park Street. It appears to have been a rectangular structure pierced by a single arch, embattled, and surmounted in Bradford's time by a single turret or cupola, and later still by twin gables. It was demolished in 1762.(4,5)
