Summary : A joint railway and underground station which opened in 1868 on the Hammersmith and City Railway (opened in 1864). The line was mixed gauge until 1868-9. It became joint property of the Great Western and Metropolitan Railways in 1867, both owners providing severices with their own trains until electrification in 1906-7 when jointly owned rolling stock was used.
