More information : Ridge and furrow and a short broad ditch, all of possible medieval and/or post medieval date, are visible as earthworks and soilmarks on historical and recent air photos and on the lidar imagery. These remains are centred at SE2386 7448 on the east side of Mowbray Castle (UID 52175). Some of this medieval ploughing appears to cut across the outer banks of the castle bailey (see UID 52175).These plough ridges are oriented north-west to south-east and continue on the south side of Main Street. All of these features appear to survive as low earthworks on the lidar imagery. (1-3) |
