Summary : A Second World War machine gun post built into the south side of Pevensey Castle. The machine gun post was constructed in 1940-41, is built of flint and reinforced concrete, and is of a non-standard shape. There are two embrasures facing south and smaller embrasures covering the side entrance. The flint facing acts as camouflage. A field visit in 1996 found the gun post extant and in a good condition. |
