Summary : A Second World War military installation, probably a searchlight battery, located about 600m to the north east of Kingshill Camp (Monument 1545609), has been mapped from aerial photographs as part of the English Heritage: Hoo Peninsula Landscape Project. The site coincides with a searchlight battery noted on a German map of 20 November 1940, and was probably associated with the camp, which was manned by the 347th Searchlight Battery RA. The installation comprises an enclosure with three huts, a possible air raid shelter and indistinct traces of vehicle tracks and other activity. The installation had been removed by October 1946. |
