Visitor Facilities:
A small HER room with a desk, PC and access to our reference materials. Power points, but not internet access, for laptops is available. Access is via the Customer Service Centre located with The Forum shopping centre. Our offices are within walking distance of the Cheshire Archives and Local Studies' Record Office.

Historic Environment Record database and associated physical resources which include:

  • Unpublished archaeological reports
  • Unpublished building surveys

The Historic Environment Record also holds

  • Archive and reports for the Cheshire Historic Towns Survey
  • Archive data and reports for the Cheshire Historic Landspace Characterisation
  • A small library which includes local sources, monographs and periodicals
  • A limited selection of historic maps and town plans
  • A wide range of aerial photographs:
    • oblique photographs taken for specific archaeological purposes;
    • historic aerial photographs dating from the 1940s;
    • small scale vertical surveys taken ahead of major infrastructure projects;
    • and the major county surveys which have been flown approximately every ten years since 1970.
