Oxford City Council's Archaeologist provides development control advice to the Planning Authority on below-ground historic environment issues for the Local Authority Area.  In support of this, the authority currently maintains the Historic Environment Record (HER) data for the city incorporating the Urban Archaeological Database (UAD) which covers 7.5 square kilometres of the city centre. HER and UAD enquiries regarding Oxford should be addressed to the City Council Archaeologist.

In addition to the database the office also currently holds copies of the grey
literature (unpublished field reports) for the UAD area.
