COVID-19 status update:  Despite the Covid-19 situation the HER is open for business and able to provide a service. Most data requests can be dealt with remotely, but there is an opportunity to visit the HER in person if this is required. Visits are by appointment only and are hosted in a Covid secure environment. It is recommended to book well in advance to ensure appropriate supervision and assistance by the HER staff who are currently subject to a hybrid working protocol. Please email archaeology@wiltshire.gov.uk with enquires.

Visitor Facilities:
Visitor desk; photocopying; photographic collection.  In the same building extensive library of national and local periodicals, monographs, books, maps and the record office.

Range of information available:
Records of archaeological sites and finds, including fieldwork, reports, maps and photographs.  It is recommended that an appointment is made to ensure that a member of staff is available to help with enquiries.

We have a dedicated visitor desk and staff will show how information can be accessed. There is a charge for photocopying and for commercial enquiries. There may also be a charge for large or complex non-commercial enquiries dependent on time needed.
