Full description
Two jettons were found on the ground floor of the wardrobe at Penhallam. The lettering on the pieces is closest to that on coins from the late 1350s and early 1360s (b6, 142-3). A seal-matrix, found on the floor of the hall, is a rough example of the usual English type of small conical pendant form. The design shows John the Baptist, set between a deep charger and a sword. It is an 'off-the-peg', not a personal seal. An early C14 date is suggested (b6, 143).
