The line of a former ditched field boundary of probable post-medieval date is visible as a cropmark on aerial photographs of 1969, to the south of Higher Winsford Farm. The boundary is depicted as extant on the Bideford tithe map of 1839, but is not depicted on the Ordnance Survey first edition 25inch map of the 1880s or 1890s. The boundary was therefore removed between 1938 and circa 1890. It may have been associated with a former possible copse or stand of trees, the presence of which has been identified from cropmarks immediately to the north-east.
