Summary
Rectilinear field boundaries, which are depicted on the 1839 tithe map for the parish of Abbotsham, are visible as earthworks and cropmarks on aerial photographs from the 1960s to 2001, to the north-west of Abbotsham village. The field boundaries fit within the surrounding extant field system, a mix of curvilinear boundaries and rectilinear enclosures, and are probably post-medieval in date, but possibly based on later medieval fields.

Rectilinear field boundaries are visible as earthworks and cropmarks on aerial photographs from the 1960s to 2001, to the north-west of Abbotsham village. The relict boundaries visible on aerial photographs are depicted on the 1839 tithe map for the parish of Abbotsham, but not on the Ordnance Survey 25inch first edition map, supporting the interpretation that they had passed out of use by the 1880s.
The field boundaries fit within the surrounding extant field system, a mix of curvilinear boundaries and rectilinear enclosures, and are probably post-medieval in date, but possibly based on later medieval fields.
The former boundaries remain visible as a cropmarks in 2001, but are not visible on more recent aerial photographs available to the survey.
Ordnance Survey, 2012, MasterMap (Cartographic). SDV348725.
The former field boundaries are not depicted.
