Colleton Mills house and site sold by the Barnstaple Turnpike Trustees in 1879 when the trust was closed down.

Colleton Mills toll-house visited on 26th March 1980. Single storey building of rubble construction with slate roof. Said to date from 1849. Located in southwest angle of A377 junction at Colleton Mills, and where the County Engineer is considering an improvement scheme.

On the A377 Exeter to Barnstaple road, one and a half miles north-west of Chulmleigh on the south-west corner of the crossroads of the new and old roads. Built in 1849, it is similar to other Barnstaple tollhouses except that the projection at the front is at the north end rather than central.
