Former field boundaries of potential medieval date are visible on aerial photographs of 1983 and LiDAR images of between 1998-2008 as a series of ditch and banked earthworks, to the west of Halwell Farm. The boundaries are composed of three ditch segments which measure approximately 5m wide. Two of these are parallel and northnortheast to southsouthwest aligned, with a third eastnortheast to southsouthwest aligned ditch visible in the adjacent field approximately 65m to the south. Remains of a possible ploughed- out bank approximately 7m wide is visible along the southern edge of this ditch. This earthwork ditch and bank boundary adjoins an additional northnorthwest to southsoutheast aligned earthwork ditch which is visible on the LiDAR images and which respects the two earthworks to the north, although is depicted on the parish tithe map and was not transcribed as part of this survey. The earthworks generally respect the existing field patterns and may represent medieval strip fields which passed out of use by the time of the parish tithe map.
