Full description

Clements, H. A., 1994, Survey of Farmsteads in the Devon Part of the Blackdown Hills, Plan and photo (Report - Survey). SDV344050.

Marked as a 19th century barn on the annotated plan (B.A.R. 3.2.4).

Stable. Hayloft/tallet; Stable. Early 19th century stable with a hayloft above forming the east end of the south range. Currently a workshop for agricultural engineers. Rubble stone walls. Slate roof. Tie Beam Truss. Three bays of tie beam trusses, mortise and tenoned at the apex. Two sets of purlins on cleats, with a plate yoke and ridge board. Door/s; Loading hatch; Metal framed windows/s. Doorway to front with plain pegged frame and a two-flap ledge and braced door. Metal tilting casement window to front, left of door. Loading hatch to gable end (west). Hayloft; Tack pegs. One axial beam with chamfers and run out stops. Curved masonry jambs to inside of door. Tack pegs. Feeding gap to rear, left of beam. Keeping place in crosswall. Access to loft by fixed ladder in corner, now missing. Remains of cobbled floor. Currently a workshop for agricultural engineers.
