A group of buildings, some apparently open sided, and surrounding a yard with a weighing machine, are shown between New Market Road and the market hall.

The Pannier market is accessed by passageways through from Duke Street, which lead into the market square with a covered market at its centre. Towards Market Road are further service buildings associated with the market, as well as an Auction House. Several of these buildings are in a poor state of repair. These buildings have been identified on the Designations Map as making a positive contribution to the special interest of the conservation area.
