Full description

(Visited 30/04/2010) Dressing platform at Yarrow Copper Mine, Yarner Wood. A complex site measuring 31 metres north-east to south-west by 8.2 metres north-west to south-east. There are two exit points to the front and one at the upstream edge. At the western end there is an overflow that is thought to lead back to the stream and adjacent to the southern edge of the floor is a small leat with associated drainage channel for washing ore during the dressing process. Two tracks lead to the platform at the eastern end, from the mine extraction shaft and to the area used for crushing the ore. There is a further track to remove the spoil material identified on the north of the site, at the point at which the launder was identified.
