Full description

Devon and Somerset County Councils, 2000-2002, Historic Farmsteads Database, BH040.8 (Machine readable data file). SDV349681.

South cattle shed- Ox Court. Bull pen; Cattle shed. Later used as a cattle shed. A low, originally open fronted cattle shed with a bull pen at the east end. It is gable ended to the east and adjoins the west range at the west end, forming an L- shaped range. A low, originally open fronted cattle shed with a bull pen at the east end. It is gable ended to the east and adjoins the west range at the west end, forming an L- shaped range. Rubble stone walls. Pantile roof. Triple pantile. Tie Beam Truss. 5 bays, with a single bay pen at east end. Tie beam trusses with a notched, mortise and tenoned apexes. Plate yoke and ridgeboard. I set of trenched purlins. Door/s; Open front; Timber window/s. The timber posts of the open front have been replaced with concrete posts and infilled with concrete block. The bull pen, at the east end, has a small, glazed timber window in the east gable end wall, with an inward splay and a timber sill. There is a doorway in the front wall of the pen, with only one door post remaining. Feeding passage. A masonry wall separates bull pen from cattle shed, with a door through to the rear, giving access to feeding passage along rear of main shed. Stalls. Tubular steel stalls. Currently disused.
