Full description

Devon and Somerset County Councils, 2000-2002, Historic Farmsteads Database, BH050.1 (Machine readable data file). SDV349681.

Threshing barn. The barn, which was rebuilt in the 19th century as part of a gable-ended range which includes a riding horse stable, incorporates the shell of an earlier building. Chert; limestone walls. Chert rubblestone with limestone quoins. Coursed limestone plinth. 20th century tile roof. Bridgewater ' Delta'. Tie Beam Truss. 4 bay roof of tie beam trusses with raking struts and metal king ties. Ridgeboard. 1 set back purlins on cleats. Door/s; evidence for engine/machinery; loading hatch; opposing doors to threshing floor. The rear threshing doors have 2, 2-flap doors on strap hinges and the front doors have replacement doors in the original, plain, pegged frame. Internally, the openings have rounded masonry jambs. There is a man door to the left of the front threshing door, in a solid frame, with a replacement ledge and brace door. To the front there is a hole through the wall for a drive shaft. Loading hatch through to the stable loft with a solid frame and plank door. Keeping place. Keeping place next to front threshing door. Currently an agricultural store.
