Full description
Devon and Somerset County Councils, 2000-2002, Historic Farmsteads Database, BH139.1 (Machine readable data file). SDV349681.
Stable. Hayloft/tallet; stable. The stable is the higher, lofted west end of a long, gable-ended range which includes a threshing barn and cartshed, on the south side of the yard. It has a symmetrical front. Chert, brick dressed walls. Slate roof. King post. 3- bays, 2 kingpost trusses. Kingpost on collars, notched for ridgeboard. One set of back purlins on cleats. Door/s; loading hatch; timber window/s. Central doorway, pegged frame and 2-flap ledge and brace door. Loading hatch in west gable end, with ledge and brace door held on strap hinges with finials. 4 small original timber windows to front. 2 each side of door. Central timber mullion, unglazed with timber shutters. Hayloft. Stalls moved from original position at rear of stable to right hand side. Feeding gap to rear. Large crossbeam in front of feeding gap. Trimmed joist in right hand corner for fixed ladder, now missing. Loft floor supported on joists, with X braces between them along centre line. Stalls. Machinery/fittings have been moved from original position. Currently used for stabling.
