Full description
Devon and Somerset County Councils, 2000-2002, Historic Farmsteads Database, BH145.2 (Machine readable data file). SDV349681.
Working horse stable. Later used as a cattle shed; stable. A small gable-ended building backing onto the lane which adjoins an earlier, narrower pigsty at its south end. It was originally lofted. It appears to have become a fairly multi-purpose building, but is likely to have been a working horse stable originally. It has also housed cattle at some time. Rubble stone, brick dressed walls. Roman tiles; slate roof. Double Roman tile to the front (east) pitch and slate to the rear. A-frame. 2-bays. A-frames with notched and pegged mortise and tenon apexes. The west principal oversails the east. The lap-jointed collars are nailed and there is a ridgeboard. I set of trenched purlins. Door/s; timber window/s. The plank door in the front wall has a solid, pegged frame. In the north gable-end there is a tiny timber framed window with a central mullion and a timber shutter. Hayloft. It was originally lofted; the stubs of beams remain in the walls. Currently disused.
