A quarry of modern date is visible as an earthwork pit on aerial photographs of 1944 onwards and on digital imaged derived from LiDAR data captured between 1998-2012 at Efford’s Close Copse. The quarry is irregular in shape, covers an area of approximately 1.20 hectares and appears to post-date a much quarry located at Great Wood to the immediate east. The quarry is not depicted on the Second Edition Ordnance Survey map of 1904-06, so appears to have been constructed after this date. The former quarry remains visible as an earthwork pit on digital imaged derived from LiDAR data captured between 1998-2012.
