Earthworks of potential medieval to post-medieval date are visible as earthwork pits and banks on aerial photographs of 1946 onwards and on digital images derived from LiDAR data captured between 1998-2012, to the east of Long Wood. The earthworks cover a total area of approximately 2.7 hectares and comprise largely irregular shaped banks which partly encompass two possible earthwork pits. The earthworks, which appear to predate the Kingswear parish tithe map of approximately 1838-48, may represent the remains of medieval to post-medieval quarrying, or other such industrial activity and remain visible as earthwork pits and banks on digital images derived from LiDAR data captured between 1998-2012.
