Boundary stone on Lower Down located along an old footpath that used to connect to the Bovey /Manaton road.
According to the then owner of Shewte, this is one of a group of stones that marked the boundary of their grazing rights on Yarner Down / Lower Down, when it was unenclosed common land. Boundary stones were discovered by the owner buried under a stone shed on the farm and one of them was inscribed with ' Lower Down of Yarner Down'.
Three other stones are also recorded.
