An earthwork mound of possible post-medieval to modern date is visible on aerial photographs of 1946 onwards and on digital images derived from LiDAR data captured between 1998-2012, to the southeast of South Bay Holiday Centre. The earthwork mound, which is sub-oval in shape and measures approximately 32m long by 24m wide, may represent quarry or mine up-cast material associated with the extensive industrial workings located to the immediate north and east. The earthwork mound remains visible as a positive feature on digital images derived from LiDAR data captured between 1998-2012.
