A former extraction pit of probable post-medieval date is visible as a shallow earthwork pit on aerial photographs of 1946 onwards and on digital images derived from LiDAR data captured between 1998-2012, to the north of Seafield Avenue, Exmouth. The former extraction pit is sub-oval in shape and measures approximately 65m in length by 30m in width. It appears to be dissected by, and thus predates, a field boundary first depicted on the parish tithe map of approximately 1838-48 and remains visible as a shallow earthwork pit on digital images derived from LiDAR data captured between 1998-2012.
