Hawkerland was the site of a burial place, and according to some historians, is of Danish origin. Hawkerland Farm lies just outside the boundary of the Common (but see site 553).

Hawkerland was site of burial ground, said by some to be of Danish origin. Present Hawkerland Farm site may be late 19th century origin; Hawkerland (and presumably this associated burial ground) appears to have been further to west at SY 0390 8913 (see site 1920).
