A series of irregular shaped earthwork depressions are visible on images derived from lidar data captured in 2016. The depressions correspond approximately with a plot recorded as 'Pit Orchard' in the Tithe Survey. The orchard is depicted on subsequent maps until the mid-20th century. The depressions are interpreted as extractive pits of post-medieval origin, which ceased extraction prior to circa 1840, after which an orchard was established.
