Several curvilinear banks, between 3 and 5 metres in width, are visible as earthworks or cropmarks on aerial photographs taken from 1946 onwards. They are interpreted as relict boundary banks, probably part of the surrounding medieval field system, or perhaps associated with Dowland House. They are not depicted on the available historic mapping, indicating that they passed out of use by the mid nineteenth century. Although the areas have been cultivated and the banks are visible as indistinct cropmarks and soilmarks in 2001, slight earthwork remains are visible on images derived from Lidar data captured between 1998 and 2007.
