Full description
Devon County Council, 1838-1848, Tithe Mosaic, approximately 1838-1848 (Cartographic). SDV349431.
'Stentaford Land' depicted on the Tithe Map; 1033 on Apportionment; 'house and garden'. Farmhouse to the south of the farm, with a building to the north. Another structure on the western side of the road.

Late 19th century depiction of 'Stentaford Land'. Layout remains the same as the Tithe Map, with another small structure added on the western side of the road, opposite the farmhouse.

Stentaford Land is 'Stentaford' in the 1364 and 'Stenteford' in 1408 Assize Rolls. The first element is from Old English and means 'stony'.
