The plot is recorded as 'Pit Close'.

The depression corresponds with a depicted earthwork with pond within it, surrounded by trees.

A subtle earthwork depression is visible on images derived from lidar data captured in 2016. The depression is situated against the roadside within a plot recorded as 'Pit Close' (Plot 678). It corresponds with a small earthwork with pond and surrounded by trees depicted on the First and Second Edition OS maps. The depression is interpreted as a post-medieval to 19th century extractive pit, which ceased extraction by the late 19th century and became used as a pond.
