Full description
Devon County Council, 1838-1848, Tithe Mosaic, approximately 1838-1848 (Cartographic). SDV349431.
A possible extraction pit is symbolised on the Cullompton parish tithe map of approximately 1838-48, although is situated on the opposing side of the parish field boundary.

A possible extraction pit of post-medieval to modern date is visible as an earthwork pit on aerial photographs of 1946 onwards, to the northeast of Gingerlands. The extraction pit is not depicted on the Bradninch parish tithe map, although a possible pit is symbolised on the opposing side of the parish field boundary on the Cullompton tithe map. The two possible features may represent associated features characterised by small-scale extraction, possibly related to the farmstead at Gingerland. The pit is elongated in shape, parallel to the field boundary and measures approximately 40m in length by 12m in width. It remains visible as an earthwork pit on digital images derived from aerial photographs taken in 2010.
