The remains of a roughly circular pit up to circa 38 metres in diameter was visible on aerial photographs of the 1940s onwards and images derived from lidar data on gentle south-facing slopes overlooking a tributary to the River Clyst, approximately 580 metres to the west-south-west of Weaver Cross. The pit was probably the remains of a quarry of post-medieval date.
