A possible trench shelter of Second World War date is visible as an earthwork ditch and banked feature on aerial photographs of 1946 and 1947, within grounds of Blundell’s School. The possible air raid shelter is east to west aligned and is located along the southern edge of recreation ground of Blundell’s School. It is visible as a linear ditched feature approximately 1.6m in width and with a zig-zag configuration defining its eastern extent and visible as an earthwork ditch and banked feature. The total length of the earthworks measure approximately 60m. The earthworks appear to form part of a trench shelter, possibly accessed at either end and which may or may not have been covered. The earthworks remain visible on aerial photographs up until 1947 and have been completely levelled by 1966, although below ground evidence of the former shelter is likely to survive.
