A possible former field boundary potentially of medieval date was visible on aerial photographs of the 1940s as earthwork banks and ditches enclosing the summit and slopes of Lease Hill. The uppermost ditch, presumably evidence of a removed boundary, is up to 8 metres wide and encloses an area of nearly 0.9 hectares. Ditches of similar width were visible extending across the south-west facing slopes flanking the remains of a possible earthwork boundary bank circa 10 metres in width. The earthwork banks and ditches do not correspond with any features depicted on the Tithe Map for Silverton and were probably therefore removed prior to the mid 19th century. The earthworks on the south and south-east facing slopes remain clearly visible on and images derived from lidar captured in 2005. It is possible that these are the same features recorded as a trackway as MDV65307.
