Orchard banks of probable post-medieval to modern date are visible as a series of linear earthwork banks on digital images derived from Lidar data captured between 2005 and 2010, to the west of Batten’s Farm. The site of the orchard is first symbolised on the First Edition Ordnance Survey map of between the 1880’s-90’s and remains largely covered with trees on aerial photographs of 1966. By 1984, the trees have been completely cleared, although the orchard banks are not clearly visible, only being perceptible on Lidar images. The east to west aligned banks occupy an area of approximately 0.13 hectares of fairly level land within a single plot depicted on historical mapping.
