A possible former extraction pit of probable post-medieval to modern date is visible as an earthwork pit on aerial photographs of 1946 onwards, to the northwest of Mountstephen Farm. The elongated shaped earthwork measures approximately 52m in length by 21m in width and appears to abut an historic and now removed field boundary, depicted on the parish tithe map, along its northern edge. The extraction pit also appears to be symbolised as a possible pond on this map. It remains visible as an earthwork pit on digital images derived from aerial photographs taken in 2010.
