Plot 197 on the West Teignmouth Tithe Map of 1840 is recorded as 'Broad Mead Toll,' with the land use recorded as a Toll House. A building is shown within the north-east corner of the plot on the Tithe Map. Buildings of a different layout are shown in this location on the First and Second Edition 25 inch Ordnance Survey maps and the Ordnance Survey Master Map, but it is not possible to tell from the map evidence alone whether the toll house has been replaced or incorporated into these buildings.
