The remains of probable post-medieval to 19th century date banks made for tree planting and drainage were visible on aerial photographs of 1946 onwards and digital images derived from lidar data captured in 2012 as earthworks to the immediate north of East Bowley, Cadbury.
Their alignment is obliquely cross-contour and orientated on a narrow and shallow combe at the eastern edge of the group; they are interpreted as fruit tree planting banks of probable post-medieval to 19th century date that were probably made to enhance drainage within an orchard.
The banks coincide with the southern end of an orchard depicted on the Tithe Map for Cadbury, between the farmsteads of Middle Bowley and East Bowley. By the later 19th century the settlement of East Bowley, and the southern part of the orchard that coincided with the banks, have both fallen out of use and are not depicted on the Ordnance Survey 25 inch first edition map.
The surviving earthwork banks were transcribed from digital images derived from lidar data and are likely to survive as low earthwork banks.
