The grounds of Newton House are linked to the churchyard by a bridge (renewed) made over the new turnpike road in the early 19th century. The arboretum lies behind the church, linked by a bridge over the road to the house, and has public access. Sir John Quicke added to the arboretum and made it an exceptional collection. It became over grown and is now being cleared by volunteers.
