Two earthwork depressions are visible on images derived from lidar data captured in 2016. The easternmost depression is semi-circular in shape and circa 80m by 50m, and the westernmost depression is rectangular in shape and circa 50m by 35m. One of the depressions corresponds approximately with a plot recorded as 'pit' in the Tithe Survey and depicted as an 'Old Chalk Pit' on the First and Second Edition OS maps. The depressions are interpreted as chalk pits of post-medieval to 19th century origin, that ceased extractive by the end of the 19th century.
