Site of a Second World War pillbox situated within the grounds of the Old Manor House, Strete Gate, Strete. The pillbox was constructed in 1940-41 and
built of reinforced concrete. The pillbox was associated with other military structures within the grounds. The house was evacuated in 1943-44 and
later destroyed, partly by US shell fire and partly by a fire. A field visit in 1997 found that the pillbox had been demolished. The only other military
remains visible were part of a building and an L-shaped slit trench.
