An extraction pit of possible post-medieval to modern date is visible as an earthwork pit on aerial photographs of 1946 onwards, to the southeast of Cottles Farm. The elongated shaped earthwork of a possible former clay pit measures approximately 63m in length by 30m in width and lies within, and so likely pre-dates, an irregular shaped plot recorded as a coppice on the Woodbury parish tithe apportionment of approximately 1838-48. The former extraction pit is situated in an area where similar such features have been recorded. It remains partly visible as an earthwork pit on Lidar-derived images of 2005, although is largely obscured by tree cover.
