Orchard banks of probable post-medieval to modern date are visible as a series of linear earthwork banks on aerial photographs of 1944 onwards, to the north of Perkins Cross. An orchard is depicted here on the First Edition Ordnance Survey map of between the 1880’s-90’s, although by 1944, aerial photographs show that the orchard trees have been largely grubbed up, leaving a series of parallel east to west and northwest to southeast aligned earthwork banks, on which the fruit trees were established, visible. These banks occupy an area of approximately 1.49 hectares of gentle northwest facing slope, within two adjacent plots. The orchard banks are visible on aerial photographs up until 1966, although their survival after this date is uncertain.
